|
Step One
Download the Meister Application |
|
Choose the Meister application you want to
download. Double click the link to start the download.
There are so many good ones to choose from this might
be one of the hardest parts of the tutorial!
|

|
Click Save.
|

|
In the Save As dialog pictured at the right,
choose to save the file to computer's desktop. This way you won't
loose track of it.
|

|
Here you see NCDMeisterTrial.zip which we just
saved to our computer's desktop after downloading it from the MeisterMed
website.
All of the Meister applications and most files in the
Medical iSilo™ Depot are compressed into .zip files to minimize the
size of the file and speed the download time.
Meister .zip files include two separate files - a
ReadMe.txt file with details about the application and a .pdb file which
is the actual Meister application that you will install to your PDA.
Note: You won't have this cool file cabinet in a vice
icon unless you already have WinZip or StuffIt on your computer.
Don't worry the next step tells you how to get one of them if you don't
already have it.
|

|
You'll need to extract these files from the
compressed .zip file with a program like WinZip or StuffIt Expander.
Luckily, these are both available free (Winzip is shareware, StuffIt
Expander is free). Download and install one of them.
Get
WinZip here or
Get Stuffit Expander here
Mac users: Get the Mac version of StuffIt Expander.
WinZip won't work for you.
|
|
Once you have either WinZip or StuffIt installed
when you double click on that .zip file you downloaded it will
automatically open in the extractor program. Pictured to the right
is how it would look in WinZip. You can see the two files that are
contained within the archive.
Click the Extract button to get those files out of
there.
|

|
Here's the Extract dialog box. Change the
destination to Desktop. By extracting the files to your desktop
you won't lose track of them.
|

|
Now we see the original .zip file we downloaded
plus the two files that were contained within it. We just
extracted them to the computer's desktop.
Now you can use these files as you would any file.
Double click the ReadMe file to open it and read about NCDMeister.
The other file is the application that we'll see how to install to our
PDA in the next steps.

Step Two
Download and Install iSilo for PocketPC |
|
On the iSilo website, go to the iSilo for PocketPC download page.
Click here to open this webpage in a separate window.
|

|
Towards the bottom of this webpage is a section
titled Windows Setup Program. Here you'll find a link to
download the file iSilo401PPCSetup.exe. Download this file
and save it on your computer's desktop.
Note: Each time iSilo releases an update the name of
this file changes (ie. iSilo402PPCSetup.exe, iSilo410PPCSetup.exe, etc.)
so the name may not be exactly iSilo401PPCSetup.exe. |

|
Double click the file you just downloaded
(iSilo401PPCSetup.exe) on your computer's desktop to run the iSilo
installation program. |

|
|
Click Next to continue the iSilo Setup program. |

|
|
Click Yes to install to the default directory. |

|
|
Click Finish to end the Setup program. |

|
Step Three
Enable File Synchronization on your PocketPC |
|
Start the ActiveSync
program by clicking with the right mouse button on the ActiveSync icon in
your task bar. The ActiveSync icon is a circle with arrows in it
that is green (when connected) and grey (when not). In the picture
to your right, the ActiveSync icon is the green circle second from the
right. |

|
When you right click the ActiveSync icon on the taskbar, a
menu pops up as seen in the image at the right. Choose Open
Microsoft ActiveSync from the pop-up menu.
|

|
The picture to the right is the Microsoft ActiveSync
program.
|

|
|
Now to check to ensure we're set up for File
Synchronization, we click the Options button.
|

|
|
Clicking the Options button brings up the Options dialog
screen seen in the image to the right. Notice that there is an item
in the list called Files with a picture of a folder with two blue circling
arrows in it. This box needs to be checked. If it doesn't have
a checkmark in it, put one there pronto.
|

|
If the Files box wasn't checked, when you do check it a
folder called Pocket_PC My Documents should appear on your computer's
desktop.
Now you're ready to add a Meister application or other
iSilo document to your PocketPC.
Go on to the next step.
|

|
Step Four
Install the Meister application
|
|
You need to find the folder called Pocket_PC My Documents. It should
either be on your computer's desktop or, if not, you should find it in
your regular My Documents folder. |

|
|
Double click the Pocket_PC My Documents folder to open it. Inside
you'll see a list of folders. You should see one named iSilo as
shown in the image to the right. If you don't see the iSilo folder,
make it. You can make it by clicking with your right mouse button,
choosing New and then Folder. Name it iSilo. |

|
|
Any Meister or other iSilo document that you put in this
iSilo folder will be synchronized with your PocketPC. Put one of the
Meister files (like LyteMeister.pdb or ICDMeister2004.pdb) in this folder
now and then connect your PocketPC. Your PocketPC should synchronize
automatically once connected.
Now you've installed the Meister application onto your
PocketPC PDA and you're ready to give it a try.
Go on to the next step.
|
|
Step Five
Using the Meister Application on Your
PocketPC
|
|
OK. After following the above steps you have the iSilo reader and
your Meister application installed on your PocketPC PDA. Now it's
time to use them. Click on the Windows icon in the
top left corner of the screen to bring down the Start menu. Choose
Programs from the menu. |

|
|
This is the Programs screen. Click on iSilo to open the program. |

|
|
This is the opening screen of iSilo. Here you'll see the list of all
the iSilo documents you've installed on your PDA. Click on any
document in the list to open the file. For this example, we'll click
on ICDMeister. |

|
|
Now that you are inside ICDMeister, you can find the ICD-9 code you need
within seconds. |

Step Six
Fine Tuning for Peak Performance
|
|
When you first open up one of the Meister applications, it
might look a little messy like you see in the image to the right. We
can fix this easily by resetting the Font option.
Do this by clicking the Tools option on the Menu
at the bottom of the PocketPC screen in iSilo. When you do, the
pop-up menu shown at the right will appear. Click on Options...
|

|
This is the Option dialog box. When you start, the
Font is listed as Medium as shown in this image.
Click the drop-down arrow on the right side of the box
and reset this to Small as seen in the image below.
|

|
|
Here we've set the Font to Small. Now click OK in the upper
right-hand corner and you'll see how much better things look. |
